So, my “summary of payments” showed up from my car insurance and it looks like they’re only going to cover a small portion of my hospital and follow up visits from my accident.
Needless to say, this slashes my budget considerably.
So if I’m looking at new cars, less than $18k, probably with a manual (since that’s the only way I’m gonna be able to keep up with traffic), what should I be checking out? Honda Fit looks okay, but the CVT blows, and the Manual leaves you at 4000RPM at 80MPH, which will likely drive me to kill myself.
Only must have is cruise control. I’d like something comfortable, but at this point even that’s out the window.
Here’s a race car.

They’re really nice, and I love the amount of space they have...
If push comes to shove and it’s the best option, that’s what I’ll buy. May just wind up with another Soul at this point.

Does it have to be new or can it be used? And if so, how old is too old?

2013 or newer. Prefer 30k miles or less. CPO heavily preferred.

2014 Mazda 3 GT HB? Probably less that 20k now. Great interiors, great fun, great looks. Or get a 6 is the 3 is too small.
I have no idea where you live, but here’s some local examples near me:
2014 GT 3
(auto on the GT, which if I remember correctly, is an automatically operated clutch’d gearbox. Is very smooth)
Can’t seem to find any HB’s with the nicer interior and a manual, but
here’s a sedan
loaded up with a row-your-boat gearbox.
i don’t know if these links are working
